Gryffindor has gained a bunch of new students since the HOL sign-ups last opened, months have passed since the beginning of the term and yet it appears that none of those new students have been interviewed so far. The shame, the disgrace! Well, in order to bring justice to the world, I set out to torture with questions have a chat with some of the kittens from the Autumn 2008 batch.
My quest began in the noisy and crowded Gryffindor Common Room. There was an impromptu Gryfftoberfest party going on and finding tiny First Year students in that hassle required some serious skills. Fortunately for me, I'm rather good at that stuff and after exactly 7 and half minutes of searching, I stumbled on Holly Muse and Sarah Evans. The two girls seemed to be busy desparately trying to get another „Missa wants her gyoza" sign to stick on the wall. Since it looked like they could use some help, I stepped closer and and glued the sign to the wall with some bubblegum. Always does the trick.
"Now that that's out of the way, would you two mind answering a couple of questions for the Paw Print?"
Looking relieved for knowing they'd managed to escape Missa's wrath this time, the two girls agreed wholeheartedly.
"Well then, first of all, how did you feel when you first got sorted into Gryffindor?"
"I actually wanted to get in to Gryffindor, so when I was sorted, I was really excited, and all, but then I got confused about how to get around and stuff, so the fellow Gryffs helped me. I was also really going insane at the moment glad, because Gryffindor would have been my first choice anyways, even without reading the HP books."
"Sounds great! What about you, Holly?"
"I hoped I would end up in Gryff, and was really happy when I was sorted here. I was a little unsure what the house would be like, but excited to find out," Holly explained with a shy smile.
Ah, so young, so innocent. I sighed knowingly and went on asking how they liked it here so far.
"The students and staff are all insane, but they're really funny and helpful if I don't know what I should do. They're great to be with!"
I couldn't help but grin, insane we are indeed. „ And you, Sarah?"
"The Common Room is great! Everyone is so nice to each other and stuff, I don't think I'd rather be anywhere else but here! The staff is great about helping the first years and the prefects are soo helpful when you want to know something. This is EXACTLY where I want to be no matter what."
Next up I asked them about Gryfftoberfest and both girls said they hadn't participated in the contests yet. „I should have done it a looong time ago, but I didn't have the time," Sarah explained.
"Sweet bajeezus, you're right! You should have!" I said, glaring and grinning at the same time. „You don't want to miss out on Gryfftoberfest, Gryfftoberfest is important! Speaking of which, it's a scientifically proven fact that all Gryffs are insane, how do you cope with the crazy-ness around you?"
"I'm okay with the craziness. I can't really be crazy in RL, so I try to be pretty crazy around here, and get all my hyperness out. I was pretty glad that Gryffindors are crazy, because it just makes everything more fun, and well, crazy," said Sarah with a grin.
Holly nodded along. "I have always been insane, so the crazyness is welcome, I love it!"
"Great! Is there anything you'd like to add?"
"We need to win the house cup, we should enter everything we can and work as hard as possible while having fun."
Ah, true words of wisdom! "What about you, Sarah?"
"To win the house cup? Bribe the Professors Earn points!"
I thanked them both for the interview and before I could say or do much of anything else, Keelin Cavanagh pushed the Common Room entrance open with a bang, jumped in and started throwing cheesecake at everyone in the room. I know I know, cheesecake in any context is always a good thing, but she really needed to learn the right throwing technique before doing anything.
"Hey! If you're going to start a food fight with cheesecake, you have to be sure that whoever you throw it at eats it right away. I can teach you the ultimate food-tossing trick, if you answer some questions for the Paw Print first." I beamed at her and Jonathan Prather, who had caught a piece of cheesecake flying at him in the most elegant way and, without waiting for a reply, dragged the two kittens behind a couch to be interviewed.
"So, tell me, how did you feel when you first got sorted into Gryffindor?"
Keelin, practically bouncing with enthusiasm, was first to reply. "I was excited! And kinda shocked, to be honest! I mean, I always saw myself as more of a Ravenclaw, what with the cleverness and wit and how I AM one of the most interesting people you'll ever meet! Seriously though, I am totally honored to be part of Gryffindor and I wouldn't change it for the world."
Jonathan agreed, "The day of my sorting was an incredible time for me. I had thoroughly hoped that I would be placed in this noble house, so when the hat finally called it out. I was overjoyed."
"That's great to hear," I said, smiling, "Do you enjoy being in Gryffindor now that you've been a part of the house for a while?"
"Well honestly, it has exceeded my expectations," said Jonathan, „The people and staff are fantastic. The school is wonderful, and my classes very fun and interesting."
"It's AMAZING. I LOVE the Den challenges and getting to know my denmates. (Burgundy Butterbeers! Woooo!) I love that we have a Drama Club, and of course the ever-so-entertaining Paw Print! I'm learning so much from everyone here, and it's really just something I'm so happy to be a part of," explained Keelin.
"As you know, it's Gryfftoberfest now, any thoughts on that?"
"I haven't had the time to participate! I know it sounds awful! I'm a terrible house member, just cast the Killing Curse on me! Schoolwork has been quite a priority lately, please don't judge me. I have been vicariously participating through everyone else though, and I am enjoying that immensely," said Keelin.
Jonathan felt more or less the same way about it. "For me as a first year it's been more like a Gryffyear! One month is not nearly enough to celebrate our Great House. But the games are great fun. I haven't been able to get involved in any contests due to RL duties."
Okay seriously, what is up with everyone neglecting Gryfftoberfest contests this year? After I was done grumbling to myself about that, I asked them what they thought about about the spirit of insanity we have here in Gryffindor.
"Insane? Me? Only on days that end in "y"," said Jonathan, nodding firmly.
"Oh heavens I have way too many problems on my own, it's more of a natural setting here for me! I love being around people who are just as ridiculous as I am. I love the Twilight obsession that is lingering in the air, I -always- get a laugh when I see Zenix fangirling to the max. Gryffindor is a good place to be! „
"Thank you both! Now just one more question before I tell you all about cheesecake-throwing, is there anything you'd like to add?"
Keelin nodded. "DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Also, don't get an ear infection, I have been battling it this past weekend and it is just the worst thing in the world, my heart goes out to anyone else who has one/has ever had one/is going to have one <333333333"
"The only thing I can suggest for winning the cup is for all Gryff's to pull together and get those assignments in as quick and often as possible," agreed Jonathan.
As you can see, we've got some awesome new people this term. Did you notice how they all had homework as their first priority? ;D That's right, it's the way to go.
And with that glorious note, I shall leave you all to your assignments.
