Welcome to the December Edition of the Owl Post! Have you guys seen the snow that's been building up outside the castle? It's the perfect time for snowball fights, mugs of hot chocolate, and sitting by the fireplace with your friends. Even more importantly, it's the perfect time to make snow lions! If you haven't done it yet, go outside, jump into the snow, and make some snow lions! How exactly do you make a snow lion? Er... well... it's really up to you, so do whatever it takes in order for you to be able to call the result a "snow lion"! Just go out into the snow, have fun, and remember that you're never too old to make a snow lion! :D

1. Quidditch Results
------------------------------------------

After another heated match for Gryffindor, the GQT has a perfect 2-0 record! The recent match against Hufflepuff ended with Gryffindor in a 130-60 victory over the Badgers. The notable players were MVP winner and chaser Kadina Tigano, Captain and keeper Missa Matz who drove back the Huff offense and kept the team in the game, and seeker Jenny Lupin who caught the snitch and cinched the win for the GQT. Along with Captain and chaser Seven Ashitaka, chaser Joanne Grey, and beaters Julie Garnet and Lily Padfoot, the GQT has extended its perfect win streak to 2! \o/

The next match will take place against Ravenclaw next month, so watch out because the GQT plans to extend its win streak to 3, as well as bring back a large batch of Chicken Fingers to share with everyone! And speaking of food, the GQT would like to apologize to anyone who didn't get a chance to try a Badger Burger this month. We tried to stretch the supply of badger meat as far as it would go, but who knew that we'd devour it all within half an hour of breaking out the grills? ^^;; This just means that you all should show up extra early to the game next month to stake a claim on Chicken Fingers! Er, and show up early to support the GQT as well!

2. November Den Challenge Results
------------------------------------------

Now that the November Den Challenge is over and done with, several new kinds of creatures have surfaced! :O These mysterious beasts are quite unique, but are they creative enough to be on the same level as our own Gryffindor House Creatures? It takes a ridiculous insane OMGWTFBBQ special kind of creature to earn such a prestigious title, so we'll let you be the judge of how cool these new creatures are. Without further ado, here are the results of the November Den Challenge!

1st Place - Randomhobosaurus (Toffee Tigers)
2nd Place - Morpheus Randomius Peskipixietrucklelf (Peppermint Panthers)
3rd Place - Gryffish Raccoon (Caramel Cougars)
4th Place - Gryfflin (Licorice Lions)

Well done everyone and congratulations to the first place winners, the Toffee Tigers, and their incredibly creative Randomhobosaurus! Everyone, say it with me now: "randomhobosaurus". Randomhobosaurus. It kind of rolls off your tongue nicely, doesn't it? ^^ Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot of these Randomhobosauruses in the future, so don't be afraid of them should you run in to one!

3. December Den Challenge
------------------------------------------

CHAAAAAAAARGE!!

Have you heard? This month's den challenge is all about war! Well maybe not *all* about war, but some of it is! The December Den Challenge can be broken down into two parts. For more information, check out this thread, but here's a quick overview of the challenge.

Part 1: Create a toga to represent your den! This month has a distinctly Greek theme to it, but it's all in the name of the upcoming Olympics (which will play a role in the future, though we at the OP can't discuss it with you guys any further at the moment. *g*). Work together with your den and come up with a design that best suits you guys!

Part 2: Declare a war on any den of your choice and create a Trojan Horse to help with your infiltration of that den. The den you decide to target is all up to you. Will you pick the weakest den? The strongest den? The den full of your friends? The den you know nothing about? Or will you forget the dens and just target the staff's offices?! :o The OP Staff highly advises against that last choice, by the way... It's all up to your den, so choose wisely and design the best Trojan Horse that you can!

4. October/November Award Winners
------------------------------------------

The Lion's Pride Committee is proud to announce the following Gryffindor has won an award.

For deftly handling and repairing the damage from the multiple explosions within the CR over this past term, (as well as deftly handling and dealing with Humfrey B. for being a pain in rear for gleefully celebrating these explosions over the past term), the Lion's Pride Committee presents HoH Prof. Hatshepsut Nahyan with the Nimbus 2001 award! Congratulations Prof. Nahyan on her well deserved award!

5. Gryffindor's Newest Head Student
------------------------------------------

For a while now, there's only been one head student in Gryffindor (though it can be argued that Rai and her big head should count as two students...), but now we're proud to announce that we now have two students representing our house! Joining Moiraine Lee in the ranks of Head Girl-dom, please welcome Missa Matz! Our sixth year GQT Captain/PP Editor/Prefect In Charge/History of Magic teacher/fire-breathing newbie eater is incredibly deserving of this role, and we're very proud of her for being promoted to this prestigious position. Congratulations Missa, and well done! We wish you the best of luck as Head Girl!

6. HOL Contest - The Day After
------------------------------------------

There's a new contest going on in HOL! For those of you with a flair for creative writing, this contest is right up your alley. More details can be found here. As for an overview of the requirements, you'll have to write an entry that informs HOL about the events of the seventh Harry Potter book. You can submit as many entries as you'd like, but only the first one counts for 10 participation points. The word limit is 350-5000 words. First place wins 50 points (that's a lot of points! :o), second gets 35, third gets 25, fourth gets 10, and fifth gets 5 points. Good luck and happy writing everyone!

7. Nearly End of Term Reminders
------------------------------------------

The end of the term is almost upon us, so you know what that means? LAST MINUTE POINT HOARDING! \o/ It's your last chance to pull in as many points as you can for this HOL term, so don't start slacking off just yet! Many classes will be giving out final assignments this month, (some of which might be worth more than usual!), so be sure to complete every last one in order to help out Gryffindor in the points race. Gryffindor is currently sitting in third place, so we need all the help that we can get.

And don't forget that Missa Matz is still challenging students to beat her for the position of top point earner in Gryffindor! She's currently at 1355 points, but there's still plenty of time to catch up to her. Also, be sure to try to pass all of your classes because you'll need to have two quills by the end of the school year in order to be promoted to the next year. Each class you pass earns you one quill, which means you'll need to pass two classes in order to earn two quills.
